Canal du Midi - Part 2

The canal bridge was built in 1856. It is one way for canal boats and self regulating. It is 198m long and has stone arches 17m wide. A similar one for cars is further along. The 'Old Bridge' is 12th century and has resisted the assaults of the River Orb since 1134. It was built on a Roman base and enlarged in the romanesque period. The lower lock in Beziers (bottom right) and one of the other historic buildings near the gardens (top right).
